Under the Patronage of Her Excellency Dr. Malika Bendouda, Minister of Culture and Arts, the Algiers Opera “Boualem Bessaih”, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Algeria, is pleased to present a tribute concert honoring the great Egyptian composer Mohamed Fawzi, who composed the music for the Algerian National Anthem “Kassaman”, on Saturday, 11 July 2026, at 8:00 p.m., at the Algiers Opera “Boualem Bessaih”.
Throughout its glorious history, Algeria has remained faithful to the sacrifices of its martyrs and to the friends who stood by its War of Independence. In this spirit of gratitude, this special evening pays tribute to one of the greatest figures of Arab music, whose name is forever associated with one of Algeria’s most cherished national symbols. While the revolutionary poet Moufdi Zakaria wrote the lyrics of the national anthem during the Liberation Revolution, the renowned Egyptian composer Mohamed Fawzi composed its music and generously offered it to the Algerian Revolution and the Algerian people free of charge, in a remarkable gesture of fraternity that continues to symbolize the enduring friendship between the two nations.
This commemorative concert reflects the deep historical and cultural ties between Algeria and the Arab Republic of Egypt. The evening will feature performances by Algerian singer Nada Errihane and Egyptian singer Walid Haidar, with the participation of the Algiers Opera Choir and the Algiers Opera Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Lotfi Saïdi, presenting a program celebrating the rich musical heritage of both Algeria and Egypt.
