Missak Baghboudarian, Conductor

Maestro Missak Baghboudarian was born in Damascus in 1973. He began his musical education at the Arabic Institute of Music and graduated from the Higher Institute of Music in 1995, specializing in musicology, piano, and orchestral conducting. Following graduation, he served as a professor of orchestration and as an assistant conductor for the Symphony Orchestra.
In early 1997, he was sent to Italy to complete his studies in conducting at the Florence State Conservatory (composition and conducting), studying under prominent Italian masters. In February 2001, he was appointed Principal Conductor of the Amadeus Symphony Orchestra in Florence, performing numerous concerts across Europe (Finland, Romania, Germany) and the United States.
He returned to Damascus in October 2002 to lead the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra, conducting performances in Syria and various Arab countries (Lebanon, Jordan, Dubai, Oman, Bahrain). He has conducted several international orchestras, including the Pacific Symphony (USA), the National Orchestra of the Dominican Republic, the Algerian National Symphony Orchestra, the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia, and the “Giorgio Bernasconi” Orchestra of the La Scala Academy (Italy).
His name is linked to several recordings with the Harmonia Cantata choir, in collaboration with the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory Orchestra and the Florence Theater Orchestra. In March 2024, he was appointed General Director of the Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts (Damascus Opera House).
