Maestro Ahmed El Saedi is the primary founder and president of the Egyptian Philharmonic Society, which since 2004 has become a benchmark for chamber orchestra repertoire and chamber music masterpieces performed by Egyptian and international musicians. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna before completing a course in conducting and musical phenomenology in Germany.
He made his international debut in 1982 with the Slovak Chamber Orchestra (Žilina) at the Wiener Konzerthaus in Vienna. Since then, he has collaborated as a guest conductor with over fifty orchestras and opera houses worldwide, including the Suk Chamber Orchestra (Prague), the Poznań Philharmonic (Poland), the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra (Vilnius), the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (London), and the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra (USA).
His achievements have earned him numerous awards, including the Villa-Lobos Centennial Medal from the Brazilian state (1988), the State Prize for Composition (1995), and the State Prize for Outstanding Achievement in the Arts (2000) from the Egyptian Ministry of Culture. His recent performances include a tour of Berlin and Dresden with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina Orchestra and a production of Mozart’s “Così Fan Tutte” at the Cairo Opera House.
