Lotfi Saidi, Conductor

Born in Algiers, Lotfi Saidi pursued his musical studies at the Regional Institute of Musical Training in Algiers (IRFM), earning a diploma in general musical studies with a specialization in viola in 2007. In 2012, he was awarded 3rd prize in the “Ali-Maâchi” Prize for Young Creators, presented by the President of the Republic. Passionate, persevering, and ambitious, Saidi expanded his musical horizons by undergoing specialized training in orchestral conducting techniques in France and the Czech Republic. This progression led him to conduct the IRFM Student Orchestra before being entrusted with the Student Orchestra of the National Higher Institute of Music (INSM).

He has had the honor of conducting major orchestras, including the Symphony Orchestra of the Algiers Opera, the Cairo Symphony Orchestra, the Arte del Mondo Orchestra of Germany, the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra of China, and the Simon Bolivar Chamber Orchestra of Venezuela during the opening nights of the 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th editions of the International Cultural Festival of Symphonic Music.

He is also frequently invited to conduct educational and special event concerts. As a member of the Algiers Opera Symphony Orchestra, Lotfi Saidi has participated in numerous festivals both in Algeria and abroad. A professor of specialized education at the IRFM in Algiers, musician, and arranger, Saidi has composed three pieces: “Algerian Joy,” “An Air of Kabylia,” and “The Sadness of Gaza.”

In addition to serving as conductor of the Algiers Opera Symphony Orchestra since April 2021, he has been Head of the Music Department at the Boualem-Bessaih Algiers Opera since October 2021. He has also been a member of the National Council of Arts and Letters (CNAL) since July 2021 and the Fund for the Development of Arts and Letters (FDAL) since 2021.
